Prep for the Job:
In this first part of the course, you will learn how to translate your acting craft to the craft of narration, research and determine where you fit in the audiobook industry so that you can create an audiobook demo, business cards and website that highlights your value to the greater audiobook community. Intro to home studio possibilities. Feedback will be offered for voice recordings.
Book the Job:
With fresh marketing materials in hand, it’s time to build relationships with decision makers, mine for referrals and begin outreach and auditioning. Ongoing support will be provided in the areas of finding decision-makers, crafting reach-outs, building online profiles and more.
Replace the Job:
You’ve booked the first job, now what?! You’ll be introduced to a process for preparing each title, showing up for the job professionally (so that you don’t feel too green), and following through and following up after the job with confidence and power. This part of the system is all about using the momentum of a booking or several to build more relationships and eventual balance a full pipeline of work as an audiobook narrator. Do I have to be an actor?
No! While acting training and experience is helpful to audiobook narration, as long as you have the willingness to learn and the persistence to keep going we provide you with tools to begin building your craft.
Does my location matter?
No! You can do this work from anywhere. That’s the point!
How much do I have to participate?
As much as possible. Participation in the course is up to you, but you will not succeed in building a narration career if you don't actively take steps to make it happen. Showing up is 90%.
What kind of equipment do you need to begin this training and what would be the cost for the equipment required to get started?
The equipment you have right now may be all you need to complete the course. That said, there are a few non-negotiables you’ll need to acquire to work competitively across the industry. We cover all necessary equipment and how to acquire it as soon as you join the course and do our best to help you get started on any budget.
Once you join, we’ll start coaching you through building a DIY home studio. We want you to get working as soon as possible so you can re-invest this initial investment in yourself as you build your career. Start thinking scrappy and being brave!
What is the investment for the course? As a creative, every dollar adds up?
The Great Audiobook Adventure may be just the investment to get you in charge of your future! This is the process that helped me make a mid-five figure income as an actor. Most folks who follow the entire course make their investment back soon after they've completed and implemented all the training.

How long does it take to get through the course and start working?
This really depends on the student - acting training, current sound equipment (if any), and mainly motivation, focus and follow-through. We have accountability built in throughout the course to help you effectively move through the training and really get to work within months if you are highly motivated.
In the masterclass, you saw the success stories of Jennifer (with a ton of paid acting experience already under her belt) and Terry (no acting experience before the course). They both began working consistently with publishers a few months after completing the coursework involving publisher reach outs.
How difficult is it to connect with publishers to get work? What kind of annual income can one hope to make as an audiobook narrator?
I don’t think it’s difficult to connect with publishers. I give you a complete roadmap inside the course on how to effectively reach out and follow through.
As for annual income, it depends on how many books you want to narrate per year, or we might want to break that down into finished hours of recording. I can answer this question as it pertains to you in a coaching call within the course but in general, narrators who work consistently make ballpark $20,000-60,000 USD per year.
Is this a self-paced course or is there a schedule to follow?
The course modules are entirely self-paced so you can go through them on your own schedule.
We offer 12 Q+A support calls - 6 with Elise for craft and 6 with Justin for tech - to help you as you go through the course. These are scheduled and help over Zoom, but if you are unable to attend live, we have a form for you to submit your questions ahead of time and you will be sent a replay of the call to watch at your convenience.
Can I take some time to decide? How long is this available?

Justin Marra is a singer/songwriter, musician, podcaster, director, and producer. Transitioning into full time sound engineering in 2017 Justin quickly earned recognition as the 'go-to' for Audiobooks, Voice Over, and as a Mastering Engineer.
He has mastered close to 200 audiobooks as well as engineered countless others for independent exchanges, national publishers, and retailers.
In 2019 he engineered and Co-Directed Jenny Slate's Little Weirds for Hachette Audio.
Additionally he has worked with recording artists from all over the world, in multiple genres, and on Emmy nominated animated television series. In a previous regeneration Justin was a high school history teacher and holds a M.A. In US History.
